Edge 155.0.4283.60 security update: install and verify on your PC
Microsoft shipped Edge Stable 155.0.4283.60 on October 15, 2026 with the latest Chromium security updates. How home users update, relaunch, and confirm edge://version.

If Microsoft Edge is the browser you actually use on a home Windows or Mac computer, check the version again. On October 15, 2026, Microsoft shipped Stable 155.0.4283.60. The Edge security release notes say that build incorporates the latest security updates from the Chromium project.
This is not a new major train. It is a mid-cycle Stable bump on the 155 line after Edge 155.0.4283.45 from October 8. If edge://version still shows .45 (or any older 155.0.4283.x), move to .60. Updating Chrome does not update Edge. Updating Edge does not update Chrome.
The same notes list Edge for Android 155.0.4283.48, released October 12. Desktop and phone are separate installers. A Windows or Mac update does not patch the phone app.
What Microsoft shipped on October 15
From Microsoft’s security release notes:
- October 15: Stable Microsoft Edge 155.0.4283.60 incorporates the latest Chromium security updates
- Details point at Microsoft’s Security Update Guide
- October 12: Microsoft Edge for Android 155.0.4283.48 also incorporates the latest Chromium security updates
Microsoft’s note says CVEs will be added as soon as they are available. You do not need a CVE scavenger hunt to act. You need the new build running, then a clean relaunch.
This package sits in the same week as Google’s Chrome 155.0.8059.79/.80 security set (our Chrome note). Edge tracks Chromium on its own schedule. Treat Edge’s About page as the source of truth for the browser you launch, not Chrome’s version string.
Why .45 is not enough anymore
If you already “did the Edge 155 update” last week, good. That got you onto the 155 train. It does not include the October 15 155.0.4283.60 Chromium ingest.
Same habit every time:
- Update
- Fully quit and relaunch
- Prove it with
edge://version
Downloaded is not running. The version page is the receipt.
How to update and verify on a home PC or Mac
- Open Microsoft Edge on the computer you browse with.
- Check for updates:
- Windows / Linux: Menu (three dots) → Help and feedback → About Microsoft Edge.
- Mac: Edge menu → About Microsoft Edge.
- Stay on that page until the download finishes and Edge offers a restart, or until it already shows 155.0.4283.60 (or a newer 155.0.4283.x if Microsoft ships one after this article).
- Restart when prompted. Do not click Later and leave old windows open for hours.
- If the version still looks old, fully quit Edge (every window). On Windows, confirm no leftover
msedge.exehelpers in Task Manager. On Mac, use Edge → Quit Microsoft Edge. Open Edge again. - Type
edge://versionin the address bar. You want 155.0.4283.60 or newer on the same 155 train. - Repeat on other machines you use, including a laptop that sleeps with Edge still open and any shared family PC.
If About Edge says an update is coming but does not offer .60 yet, give Stable a day, then check again. Microsoft stages these.
Android Edge, separately
Desktop Edge updates do not patch Edge on your phone. On October 12, 2026, Microsoft published Edge for Android 155.0.4283.48 with Chromium security ingest (security release notes). Check Google Play on the phone, update, then open the app once so the new build actually launches. iOS Edge still updates through the App Store on its own schedule.
Do this / don’t do that
Do
- Force About Microsoft Edge, relaunch, and confirm
edge://versionshows 155.0.4283.60 or newer. - Update Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Brave on their own pages if you use them. Edge is only one browser.
- Fully quit leftover Edge processes after an update prompt.
- Treat a mid-cycle Chromium security ingest as “install today,” not “install when I remember on Sunday.”
Don’t
- Do not stop at 155.0.4283.45 because you already “did the Edge 155 update.”
- Do not assume a Windows Update reboot alone refreshed Edge if
edge://versionis still old. - Do not wait for the CVE list to fill in before updating. Microsoft adds those later.
- Do not download random “Edge offline installer” packs from third-party sites. Use Edge’s own About page or Microsoft’s download links.
Bottom line
Microsoft’s October 15, 2026 Stable update ships Edge 155.0.4283.60 with Chromium security ingest (security release notes). Android users should look for 155.0.4283.48. This sits beyond the earlier 155.0.4283.45 package. On your own computer: open About Microsoft Edge, install, fully quit and relaunch, confirm edge://version. That is the whole job.
