One UI 9 hits US Galaxy S25, S25 FE, Fold7, and Flip7: how to install
Stable One UI 9 (Android 17) is now rolling out in the US to Galaxy S25 series, S25 FE, Z Fold7, and Z Flip7 after the September S26 wave. Carrier build notes, what changed, and install steps for home users.

If you own a Galaxy S25, S25 FE, Z Fold7, or Z Flip7 in the United States, the big One UI 9 wait is turning into an install button. Samsung’s Android 17 skin started on newer flagships in September. This wave is for last year’s S25 family and the Fold7 / Flip7 foldables.
This is a follow-on to our September One UI 9 rollout note, which covered the official start on S26 / Fold8 / Flip8. Same software generation. Different phones. Different calendar.
What is confirmed for the US
Carrier support pages and Samsung-watcher reporting agree that stable One UI 9.0 (Android 17) began appearing for US units around October 2, 2026, with staged expansion afterward.
Galaxy S25 series (Verizon examples, October 2, 2026):
- Galaxy S25: build ending S931USQUCDZIF, September 2026 security patch (Verizon S25 update page)
- Galaxy S25+: build ending S936USQUCDZIF, September 2026 security patch (Verizon S25+ update page)
- Galaxy S25 Ultra: S938USQUCDZIF, September 2026 security patch (Verizon S25 Ultra update page)
GSMArena also reports US firmware endings of DZIF for S25 / S25+ / S25 Ultra and CZIF for Galaxy S25 FE, with a download around 4GB (smaller if you were on the One UI 9 beta).
Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7:
- Verizon lists One UI 9.0 / Android 17 for Fold7 as System Update 16 on October 2, 2026, build F966USQUCCZIH, September 2026 security patch (Verizon Fold7 update page).
- Verizon lists the matching Flip7 package as F766USQUCCZIH on the same date (Verizon Flip7 update page).
- SamMobile reported the Fold7 / Flip7 stable wave expanding in the US across carriers (AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon spotted at different times), including unlocked units, with more carriers expected to follow.
Your exact build string can differ by carrier and unlocked vs locked. The source of truth is your Software update screen, not a friend’s screenshot.
Samsung’s own One UI 9 official rollout announcement still describes the September 16 start on S26 after Fold8 / Flip8. Treat that as the program kickoff. The US S25 / Fold7 / Flip7 packages above are the later regional wave.
What you actually get (normal-person list)
Skip the brochure. From Samsung’s announcement and the Verizon change notes, the everyday pieces are:
- My FanCam: keep a selected person centered in a recorded video while the scene moves.
- Now Brief editable cards: choose what shows up in your daily summary.
- Call Brief: related events and info as cards on the call screen (when offered).
- Warranty and Care: warranty status, diagnostics, repair estimates, Care+ and service booking in Settings.
- Now Nudge: context-aware suggestions in more places.
- Security and privacy surfaces (Security Brief, Privacy Alerts) that try to surface risky apps and permission noise instead of hiding them in deep menus.
Feature availability still varies by country, language, and model. If something in a press release is missing on day one, that is common, not proof your install failed.
Before you install
- Charge past 50% and stay on Wi-Fi. These packages are large.
- Back up photos and chats you cannot replace (Samsung Cloud, Google Backup, or a computer copy).
- Free a few gigabytes if storage is tight.
- Note your Samsung account password and screen lock. Interrupted installs sometimes ask again.
- Expect a staged rollout. Friends on the same model at another carrier may see it earlier or later.
Install and verify
- Open Settings → Software update (wording can be System updates on some carrier skins).
- Tap Download and install or Check for updates.
- If One UI 9 / Android 17 appears, download on Wi-Fi, keep the phone powered, and install when ready.
- Let the phone reboot. Do not force-restart mid-install unless Samsung or your carrier support tells you to.
- After setup screens, confirm:
- Settings → About phone → Software information
- One UI version should show 9 (build details vary)
- Spend a few quiet minutes on Wi-Fi so apps and Galaxy AI first-run bits can finish downloading.
If nothing appears yet, wait and check again later in the week. Avoid random “update.zip” sideloads from forums.
October security patch note (separate track)
Samsung has also started an October 2026 security patch on newer flagships such as the Galaxy S26 family and Fold8 / Flip8 lines, according to Samsung-watcher reporting (Sammy Fans summary). The US One UI 9 packages listed above for S25 / Fold7 / Flip7 still carry the September 2026 security patch level on the Verizon pages checked for this article.
Plain language: getting One UI 9 does not automatically mean you already have the October security bulletin. After you are on One UI 9, keep checking Software update for the next security package when your model is due.
Do this / don’t do that
Do
- Check Settings → Software update on Wi-Fi if you have an S25, S25 FE, Fold7, or Flip7 in the US.
- Confirm One UI version 9 under Software information after the reboot.
- Back up first, then install, then re-check battery behavior for a day.
- Keep watching for the next security update after the major UI jump.
Don’t
- Do not factory reset “to make One UI 9 cleaner” unless you have a real failure and a fresh backup.
- Do not install mystery APK updaters from search ads.
- Do not assume every Galaxy AI footnote works in your country on hour one.
- Do not confuse this US S25 / Fold7 / Flip7 wave with the September S26 kickoff. Different models, same software generation.
Bottom line
Stable One UI 9 (Android 17) is now reaching US Galaxy S25 / S25+ / S25 Ultra / S25 FE and Z Fold7 / Z Flip7 units in a staged October wave, with carrier pages such as Verizon listing October 2 packages and September 2026 security levels (Verizon S25, Fold7, GSMArena, SamMobile). Charge up, back up, install from Software update, confirm One UI 9 under Software information, and keep checking for the October security patch when your model gets it. Newer S26 / Fold8 phones already had their own September rollout.
