Apple's new home lineup: HomeView, HomePod mini 2, Apple TV 4K, and Home Collection

On October 13, 2026 Apple announced HomeView, HomePod mini 2, a new Apple TV 4K, and Apple Home Collection accessories made with LG and Schneider. Prices, ship dates, Siri AI caveats, and what home buyers should know.

Apple had a busy Tuesday. On October 13, 2026, Apple Newsroom posted four press releases at once, all aimed at the home: a brand new smart display called HomeView, a second generation HomePod mini, a new Apple TV 4K, and Apple Home Collection, a line of cameras, thermostats, and a lock built with LG and Schneider Electric.

If you were waiting to see what Apple would do with the smart home, this is the answer. Here is what each product is, what it costs, when it ships, and what I would think about before ordering.

All prices and dates come from Apple’s press releases linked below.

Apple HomeView: a smart display for the whole family

Apple HomeView is the new product here. It has a 7-inch Liquid Retina display on a domed speaker base, joined by a stainless steel hinge so you can tilt the screen. Apple pitches it for kitchen counters, nightstands, and side tables, and it runs on the A18 chip.

What it does:

  • Recognizes up to six people by face and switches to each person’s own Home Screen, Messages, Calendar, Reminders, and Find My.
  • Siri AI, Apple’s new conversational Siri, built in.
  • FaceTime with Center Stage, music, podcasts, and photo frame style faces, including a Snoopy face.
  • Smart home control through the Home app, including cameras and Home Collection accessories.

It comes in silver, starlight, rose pink, and space gray. A separate wall-mounted model (space gray or silver) is also $299, but it needs one of three Schneider Home mounts: $59.95 USB-C, $79.95 AC wired, or $129.95 PoE wired, which arrives in early 2027.

Two caveats from Apple’s own fine print. Some features need a paired, compatible iPhone nearby, and HomeView is not for sale in the European Union because Siri AI is not available in iOS there yet.

HomePod mini 2: same size, Siri AI later

HomePod mini 2 runs on the Apple S10 chip and comes in pink, green, blue, white, and midnight for $149. Highlights:

  • Sound Glow, where the top of the speaker lights up in sync with your music.
  • Four-speaker surround sound when you pair it with the new Apple TV 4K.
  • It can act as a speaker for a Mac.
  • Sound Recognition for smoke and carbon monoxide alarms, with alerts to your iPhone.

The important detail: Siri AI is not on HomePod mini 2 at launch. Apple says it is coming in a future software update, in English, in a list of countries that includes the U.S. Buy it for the sound and smart home features you get today, not a promise.

Apple TV 4K (4th generation)

The new Apple TV 4K costs $299 (or $49.83 a month for six months). It uses the A19 chip, which Apple says gives up to 50 percent faster CPU and up to 2x faster GPU performance than the last model, plus a dedicated AV1 decoder for more efficient streaming.

  • Far-field microphones let you talk to Siri hands-free without the remote.
  • Siri AI brings a full-screen search experience for shows and movies.
  • The Siri Remote now supports Find My with Precision Finding and can play a sound. Apple says Find My works on Siri Remote (2nd generation or later), and the new remote is also sold separately.
  • With four HomePod mini 2 or HomePod (2nd generation) speakers, you get Apple’s surround sound setup.
  • Built-in Wi-Fi and Thread make it a home hub.

Good news for current owners: Apple says Siri AI is available as a beta on Apple TV 4K (2nd generation or later). If you already have a recent Apple TV, you may not need to buy a new one to try the new Siri.

Apple Home Collection

Apple Home Collection is a set of accessories designed with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric. They set up with one tap on an iPhone, run entirely in the Home app with no separate app or account, and are end-to-end encrypted in Apple Home.

U.S. starting prices from Apple:

  • LG Video Doorbell Wired: $249.95
  • LG Floodlight Cam: $399.95
  • LG Outdoor Cam Plug-In: $299.95
  • LG Indoor Cam Plug-In: $199.95 (it physically tilts away when someone in the household comes home)
  • LG Smart Deadbolt Lock: $349.95, with Ultra Wideband hands-free unlocking
  • LG Smart Thermostat or Schneider Home Smart Thermostat: $199.95 each
  • LG Temperature Sensor or Schneider Home Room Sensor: $39.95 each

The cameras work with iCloud+ for 10 days of event video history, and Apple Intelligence can summarize clips on eligible plans. Availability starts in December, with some items in early 2027, mostly in the U.S. and Canada (cameras also in the UK).

What home buyers should think about

  • Siri AI depends on where you live and what you own. It launches in English in a handful of countries, and the best personal features need an Apple Intelligence capable iPhone or iPad.
  • HomePod mini 2 owners get Siri AI later, not on day one.
  • Check your current Apple TV first. If it is 2nd generation or later, try the Siri AI beta before you upgrade.
  • Cameras and locks are a bigger commitment. A lock and doorbell are hard to swap later. Our home IoT cameras and NVRs guide covers what to weigh before you put cameras on the network.
  • Put smart home gear on its own network if your router supports it. See our guest and IoT WiFi guide.

Bottom line

Apple’s October 13 home launch is its biggest smart home push in years: a $299 HomeView display, a $149 HomePod mini 2, a $299 Apple TV 4K with far-field mics and an A19 chip, and a Home Collection of cameras, locks, and thermostats starting in December. If you already live in Apple’s ecosystem, HomeView is the one to watch. Just read the Siri AI fine print for your country and devices before you pre-order.
